That’s right, the streaming giant has another novel adaptation coming this December from writer Josh Malerman, who encouraged readers to not open their eyes, well, except to read his 2014 book, Bird Box.
The film follows Malorie, played by Sandra Bullock, as she navigates a post-apocalyptic world with her two children, seeking sanctuary. A mysterious force has decimated the world’s population and, if you see it, you take your own life. Not only can you not conquer what you can’t see, but now lies a two-day journey, through the woods, for the family, blindfolded. The film has an all-star cast which also includes John Malkovich, Sarah Paulson and Trevante Rhodes.
This film is eerily similar to the hit, A Quiet Place, which was well-received by audiences this year, starring both John Krasinski and Emily Blunt. The difference, in that film, you couldn’t make a sound, whereas, in this upcoming film, you mustn’t look.
Look for Bird Box, from Academy Award winner director/producer Susanne Bier, to land on Netflix on December 21, just in time to scare all the holiday cheer right out of you. See the trailer below. It’s alright, it’s safe to watch (wink-wink).
