The 76th Annual Golden Globe Awards were held in Beverly Hills on Sunday, January 6 in Beverly Hills, CA. It was a night in which the Hollywood Foreign Press Association was able to honor great contributions to film and television.
Jeff Bridges was awarded the Cecil B. DeMille Award for lifetime achievement in film and Carol Burnett received the first ever Carol Burnett Award for lifetime achievement in television. Both delivered touching and entertaining speeches reflecting on their years in Hollywood.
In the film categories, POPAXIOM predicted eight out of fourteen of the winners correctly. The biggest upset of the night was perhaps Bohemian Rhapsody, which took home both awards for which it was nominated: Best Motion Picture, Drama and Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture, Drama. The fact that the HFPA received this film so well means that it just may end up becoming a serious contender at the Oscars. Additionally, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse defeated the expected favorite Incredibles 2 and Glenn Close took home the award for her turn in The Wife, usurping Lady Gaga for A Star is Born.
Below you can read the complete list of winners — in film and television — from the 76th Annual Golden Globes. Do you think the HFPA was right? Let us know in the comments!
