Netflix Reveals All-Star Cast for THE DARK CRYSTAL: AGE OF RESISTANCE

What do a Star Wars legend, a Tim Burton regular, the Tomb Raider, Harry Potter baddie and two Game of Thrones alumni have in common? They’ll all voice characters on the Netflix prequel series The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance in 2019, of course!

The upcoming series will follow in the footsteps of the 1982 film, in that, it will not use CGI and will utilize both puppets and humans, including voice actors, a Jim Henson staple.

The story, which takes place several years before the film, takes place in a dying world called Thra. It is corrupted by an evil species (Skeksis), which have spread sickness across the land. When three Gelfling discover a horrifying secret behind the Mystic’s power, they set out to form a rebellion in hopes of saving the world.

Leading the charge as the three Gelfling heroes, Taron Egerton, as Rian, Anya Taylor-Joy, as Brea, and Nathalie Emmanuel (Deet). The streaming service also revealed the first look at the series, revealing all three main characters (below).

The 10-episode inaugural series will also feature a laundry list of fan-favorite actors like, Mark Hamill, Alicia Vikander, Helena Bonham-Carter, Natalie Dormer, Keegan-Michael Key, Simon Pegg and Andy Samberg.  All will voice Gelflings and the Skeksis & Mystics.

Look for the much-anticipated series to debut at a some point in 2019.
