Pearl Thusi to Star in First-Ever African Netflix Original Series, QUEEN SONO

The world’s leading entertainment streaming service, via its continued investment in international content initiative, has announced its very first South African project, a series called, Queen Sono.

The action-packed series is centered on Pearl Thusi’s character, Queen, who is a highly-trained South African spy tasked with the betterment of the lives of African citizens. She now must take on her most-dangerous mission yet, but also face the realization of ever-changing relationships in her personal life as well.

The Netflix Original Series comes via creators Kagiso Lediga, who will direct, and executive producer Tamsin Andersson, in conjunction with Diprente, a Johannesburg-based production company that will helm the project.

Thusi had a 17-episode run on Quantico and some of her most-recent projects include the Netflix comedy-drama Catching Feelings and Scorpion King: Book of Souls.

No news yet on the rest of the cast, but the series is slated to start production in 2019.
